A Call for an ERAMUS Trainee

The purpose of the placement is to help students to adapt to the requirements of the EU-wide labour market by developing specific project management skills acquired during hands-on work experience in a real project-driven environment.

The long-term aim is to contribute to the development of an open-minded and internationally experienced young people as future professionals. The placement is offered in the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, in Rovaniemi, Finland. Trainee will be tutored by Project Manager of the EU Arctic Information Centre initiative.

Preferred time of the training is 1.9.2013-31.6.2014

Tasks

  • Supporting Project Manager in the daily implementation of the scheduled activities.
  • Implementing project administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to the timely and efficient implementation of the project according to the rules and procedures of the financer, best practices of project cycle management methodology and within the given budget.
  • Supporting reporting process including contributing to drafting the interim and final reports.

Requirements

  • Innovative, courageous, internationally-oriented mindset with strong interest in managing and implementation of the projects financed by the European Union will be considered as an asset.
  • Readiness to take challenges of the deadline-driven project life.
  • Ability to work both independently and in an international team.
  • Last year students of Bachelor or Masters degrees in project management, economy, political sciences, regional planning, social and/or environmental studies or related fields.
  • Proven experience of a minimum of 1 year in assistant/support position, practical training or volunteering in the field of international projects, development policy, project management support, policy-analysis or related areas will be considered as an asset. Previous experience relevant to the Arctic region is welcomed but not necessary.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written). Other languages are considered to be an asset.
  • Very good computer skills.

Please note that it is up to the applicant to arrange financing of the training from ERASMUS Student Mobility for Placements at the home institution.
