Lapin yliopiston Arktinen keskus ja taiteiden tiedekunta järjestävät englanninkielisen Shamanism, Symbolism and Culture -seminaarin Rovaniemellä 27.–28. marraskuuta 2014. Seminaarin yhteydessä järjestetään kaksi kaikille avointa elokuvailtaa, joissa esitetään yhteensä neljä unkarilaisen Mihály Hoppálin shamanismista kertovaa dokumenttielokuvaa.
Elokuvat esitetään Polarium-salissa Arktikumissa, Pohjoisranta 4, ja niihin on vapaa sisäänpääsy. Elokuvat ovat englanninkielisiä.

Shamans of Four Nations (42 min.) – 1977

Mihály Hoppál met different ethnic minorities in different regions of Siberia where local shamans still practice their rituals (like the Nanay, the Manchu, the Tuva and the Buryats). One may get a fair overview of the differences and similarities of acting shamans in Siberia.
Way to the Upper World (29 min.) - 2006

In 2004 M. Hoppál and D. Somfai-Kara, two Hungarian ethnologists, have the chance to make a documentary on a Kirghiz Shamanic ritual in Xinjiang, China. It was a healing séance when the local shaman (baksi) tried to heal some young patients. He fall into trance while chanting and climbing up to the top of the yurt.

Memory of a Festival Nomad - a film to the memory of Heimo Lappalainen (29 min.) – 2004

Heimo Lappalainen was a Finnish filmmaker and author, anthropologist, who was famous for his documentaries. He was a well known figures of the Nordic film festivals and he started to make films on living shamans in Siberia but he suddenly passed away. This short film shows the last interview with him.
Shamans: Past and Present (parts I–II) (35 min + 45 min) - 1994

Part I. is a general outline of the history of Shamanism by using old pictures, photos and films, which have never been published, with an introductory comment by the late prof. Åke Hultkrantz.
Part II. is dedicated the contemporary forms of shamanhood as urban shamans, Yakut shamanic theater, etc. commented by well know experts, like Jonathan Horwitz, Michael Oppitz, Marjorie Balzer, and others.
