We are pleased to announce that the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) is hosting Marie Curie Fellow Dr. Nengye Liu from the University of Dundee between 25 May and 2 June, 2014.
Dr. Liu, who will be on a short term scientific mission at NIEM, will give us two lectures during his stay on the following topics:

Dr. Nengye Liu is a Marie Curie Fellow at School of Law, University of Dundee, United Kingdom. His current research focuses on the European Union and the protection of marine biodiversity in the Arctic. He obtained a Doctor of Law from the Department of Public International Law, Ghent University, Belgium. His doctoral thesis is entitled "Prevention of Vessel-Source Pollution, a Comparative Study between European and Chinese Law". Dr. Liu has a Bachelor of Law and a Master of Law from Law School, Wuhan University, China. Prior to moving to Dundee, he was a Research Associate of the Walther-Schücking-Institute for International Law, University of Kiel, Germany. Dr. Nengye Liu has published widely in the fields of international law of the sea and international environmental law (e.g, Ocean Development and International Law, Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce, Heidelberg Journal of International Law, International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law, Asia Pacific Journal of Environmental Law, Journal of International Maritime Law, Ocean Yearbook). He has given lectures, presentations as well as participated in academic events in 20 countries across 5 continents. Recently, Dr. Liu was appointed as an associate editor of the Yearbook of International Environmental Law.
