The UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education, in collaboration with the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law, has organized a Panel session at the Arctic Circle Japan Forum on March 04, 2023.
The Panel session entitled: The Cryosphere: Legitimizing the links between the Arctic and the Third Pole has attracted four distinguished speakers from Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Taiwan. The speakers discussed emerging issues of concern in relation to the Arctic and the Third Pole, including challenges of international law in addressing common concerns, geopolitics, security and national interests, techno-scientific intervention to preserve the cryosphere, and transboundary pollution, etc. The other collaborative partners of the Panel include the UArctic Law Thematic Network, the UArctic Thematic Network on Asia in the Arctic and Arctic in Asia, the National Chengchi University of Taiwan and the UiT-the Arctic University of Norway.
