Open seminar on Human Security

The Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland will organize open research seminar “Towards Arctic Security: Northern Aspects of Human Security” on Thursday 25th February 2016 at 10. The seminar will open the concept of human security for example from the dimensions of climate change and cyber security.

Tackling questions of indigeneity and inclusion in international politics

The University of Lapland and the Centre for the Study of Democracy, University of Westminster, will organise a workshop in London on 12 February 2016 to address the current claim that political power is being redistributed and exercised in new ways in indigenous issues. The workshop is part of the international research project "Indigeneity in Waiting: Elusive Rights and the Power of Hope" funded by Kone Foundation.

Arctic Film Night 9th February: Inuk

The Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland will show a Greenlandic film Inuk at the Arctic Film Night on Tuesday 9th February 2016 at 18 in Arktikum building (Pohjoisranta 4, Rovaniemi). The audience can also meet film makers during the event.

Vulnerable Barents nature appear in exhibition at Arktikum

The touring exhibition “Barents – Nature has no borders” will be on view at the Arktikum Science Centre, Rovaniemi from 2nd Fabruary until 9th March 2016. The exhibition, exploring the globally unique nature of the Barents Region, consists of 15 photographs by Finnish, Swedish and Russian nature photographers.
