Greetings from fieldwork at Yamal, Russia by Research Professor Forbes

Arctic Centre's Research Professor Bruce Forbes and his team is currently doing fieldwork in Yamal. He sent greetings via text message on 1st July from Yamal.

"Moi! We made it to the tundra by train two days ago and met our nenets herders partners. Weather has been cold and windy and we remain near Yuribei river, where a new bridge of 3,5 km opened last fall (68 degrees 53 min north and 70 degrees 18 min east). We delivered a large load of food, e.g. 100 loaves of bread by trekol – a kind of jeep with huge balloon wheels.”
