Arctic Market Days in the Arktikum
9.12.2008 15:45
Arctic Market Days invite you to see the Sami and local handicrafts and taste local herbs from 19th to 21st of December in the Arktikum.
There are work shows, workshops and unique handicraft products on sale during the Arctic Market Days. At the workshops you can try out your own handicraft, and on the work shows you are able to watch the artisans at work. In addition the local herb growers present their products.
Chief Executive Producer Nicolas Gunslay from the Arctic Centre Science Center says that through the Arctic Market Days they want to promote local high-quality handicraft.
– Handicraft is a true livelihood for many people in the North which is easily forgotten on todays mass production market. The Arctic Market Days are a meeting place for local artisans and consumers, says Gunslay.
The Arctic Market Days are held in the Arktikum from 19th to 21st of December, 2008. Markets are open daily from 10 am to 6 am at the entrance and the Aurora conference room in the Arktikum building (address: Pohjoisranta 4, Rovaniemi). The entrance is free of charge. The Arctic Market Days is arranged by the Science Center of the University of Laplands Arctic Centre, Arktikum Service Ltd, Arctic Label project by Peräpohjolan kehitys and the students of the University of Lapland. Welcome!
