21.4.2015 14:05
In its meeting of 21 April 2015 the Board of the University of Lapland decided to launch an international search to appoint a new director for the Arctic Centre. The application period will begin in May 2015.

The position of the Director of the Arctic Centre is filled by launching an international search for a research professor to be hired either on a fixed-term or on a permanent basis. The research professor’s position entails a five-year position as the Director of the Arctic Centre.

The University Board also noted that the Arctic Centre’s system of administration will remain as is, with the exception that the Executive Board will be supplemented by a student member nominated by the Student Union.

The University Board addressed the operational structure and administration of the Arctic Centre because Director Paula Kankaanpää has announced her resignation, effective as of 1 August 2015, in order to start her duties as the Director of the Finnish Environment Institute.
