Graphic design students of the University of Lapland have design presentation materials for the Arctic Centre. A new multimedia and a video present the various activities of the Arctic Centre in a compact and visual way. Presentation materials are available in the Arctic Centre webpage which just got a new lay-out.

Students made the presentation materials as a part of their studies. The course was led by Dr. Hannu Vanhanen. The multimedia is available in Finnish and in English, and the video has English narration.

“In co-operation with the Faculty of Art and Design we have been able to produce new kind of presentation materials that can be used for various target groups. Multimedia has been shown already for foreign students and Swedish schoolchildren”, says Mr Markku Heikkilä, Head of the Science Communications of the Arctic Centre.

Multimedia includes photos taken by Arctic Centre staff. The photos present research trips in the Arctic area and public events in Lapland. Graphic design students have also taken photos in the Arctic Centre library, Science Centre and office in the Arktikum house, Rovaniemi. Video also includes footage of the northern nature and city of Rovaniemi.

The new lay-out of the Arctic Centre web-page has been designed by Studio Ilpo Okkonen. The same studio has earlier designed Arctic Centre brochure and power point template.

“The purpose of the new lay-out is to streamline our web page structure, make it easier to find information about the Arctic Centre and to move close to the visual image of the University of Lapland”, says Mr Heikkilä.
