Seminar on planning exhibitions based on popularized scientific content 3.-4.10. 2008

Arctic Centre together with the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts and Design arranges a seminar on planning exhibitions based on popularized scientific content.

Goal: To give to students skills to plan, design and produce exhibitions that are based on popularized scientific content. To give to student skills to act as a specialist of his own field in exhibition planning and related processes. To familiarize students to different sectors of exhibition, tasks, methods and ways of exhibition architecture.

Content: Planning of exhibition based on scientific popularized content as a member of exhibition team. Lectures deal with exhibition planning process, exhibition elements, target groups, exhibition architecture, spatial and visual communication, lightning, scale models and scientific communication.

As a practical work, students will plan part of, or entire exhibition. Course will be executed in co-operation with the Science Centre of the Arctic Centre. Exhibition can concern part of the permanent exhibition, a travelling exhibition or a temporary exhibition.

Preceding studies : Tilasuunnittelu I and II if they belong to the curriculum

Method: Studies include lectures related to the exhibition process and planning, independent and team work. Lectures will be at the beginning of the course.

Requirements: Active and committed participation in the process and learning diary.

Target group : Students of the Faculty of Arts, end of the candidates studies/ beginning of master
