Twelve people applied for the new Director of the Arctic Centre

The position of Research Professor of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, that also includes the task of the Director of the Arctic Centre, was applied for by twelve people by the deadline 18th June. The position will be filled through an invitation procedure for a five-year period beginning on 1st November 2015.
The position of the Director of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland will be filled as a research professorship that includes the responsibilities of Director of the Arctic Centre. The Director of the Arctic Centre is responsible for leading and developing the Centre, in particular its research activities. The appointment of the Resarch Professor & Arctic Centre Director will be decided by the University of Lapland Board based on the report by the Rector in the autumn.
Those interested in the position of the Research Professorship and the task of the Director were provided an opportunity to express their interest. By 18th June 1 pm twelve people applied for the post. They are Igor Appel, Jouni Aspi, Jukka Forsman, Kimmo Kahilainen, Stefan
Kirchner, Timo Koivurova, Ilpo Laitinen, Ari-Pekka Leppänen, Osmo Rätti,
Dina Solatie, Daniela Tommasini and Philip Wookey.
