Development projects coordinated by the Arctic Centre were involved in organizing a pitching event for business owners and future entrepreneurs. In the end of the day a winner was nominated but most of all the event was about learning from each other.

Reindeer Tank event which took place earlier in May was jointly organized by Business Ladies project and Attract Lapland Project led by the Arctic Centre, in collaboration with Ambitious Africa project.

Among judges of the pitching event were Finnish start-up icon Peter Vesterbacka and young multi-entrepreneur Ronny Eriksson. They also gave valuable input to the business owners and future entrepreneurs how to have a convincing pitching and scalable business in Finnish Lapland.

First every participant had five minutes to present their business idea to the audience and judges. After the presentations judges had a chance to interview competitors about their businesses and ideas. After intensive two hours of battling winners were selected.

First prize went to Sally Ulich with the idea of Gold Star online English teaching. Second prize went to Kate Suopajärvi with her fashion idea and the third one to Francisca Gomes with the idea of an online platform to connect African and European talents. Judges justified Sally’s victory with her great personality and stand out pitch performance.

Participants felt that the event was most of all an educational experience.

– It has been a tremendous experience for me personally. It was great to learn from people who run business. I will try to be like them one day. It was very inspiring, said one of the participants Gian Marco Magistrelli.

Business Ladies and Attract Lapland projects are both funded by the European Social Fund and aim to support employment of immigrants.
