The Nature Photos of the Year exhibition arrived in Arktikum Science Centre. The exhibition will be open from 15th March to 17th April 2016 from Tuesday to Sunday at 10 AM – 6 PM.
The Photo of the Year is Antti Leinonen’s “Mother, wait”. The silhouette image shows two European elk, with a calf struggling to keep up with its mother. The jury praised Leinonen’s restrained use of colour, adding the photo’s cropping and the rhythm of the animals’ legs "approach perfection".
More than 11,500 photos were submitted in eight categories in the annual contest, run by Finnish Nature Photographers’ Association. Forty were chosen for awards and these pictures will be exhibited around the country.
