Monica Tennberg is a member of the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research (NVP)

Research professor Monica Tennberg is elected as a member of the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research (NVP). Tennberg is a research professor at the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland. She has studied Arctic politics since early 1990s. Today she focuses in her research to politics of Arctic everyday life, political economy of extreme weather events; practices of neoliberal governance and their local implications; and social dimensions in Arctic politics.

NVP is the world’s only scientific academy that concentrates on the polar regions and related challenges within all scientific disciplines and in an international perspective. The Academy’s vision is enhancing polar science for the benefit of mankind. It was established in 2008 and the Academy has now 148 individual members from 19 countries. The Academy has also eight institutional members who contribute with relevant knowledge and expertise.
