Arctic fairy tales and mysticism are the theme of this year's edition of the Arctic Fury Film Festival. From the 1st to the 4th of November magical stories will be presented in Arktikum, Rovaniemi (Pohjoisranta 4).
Every day of the festival there are screenings suitable for different age groups. As the movies come from different Nordic countries, all of them have either Finnish or English subtitles. An up-to-date program and detailed information about the movies are available at

Possibility to meet creators
On Wednesday 2 November at 16 there will be showed “Kaassassuk – The Orphan” – an inspirational animation based on the myth and folktale that was co-created by children from the orphanage in the Greenlandic town of Uummannaq. Children have participated in all stages of the movie production, including singing, animation, and creation of the background designs.
– After the film screening, there will be a unique opportunity to meet the award-winning director of the film Rikke Hallund and the producer of the movie Claus Johnsen, as well as two guests from the Children’s Home in Uummannaq, says Event Coordinator Raija Kivilahti from the Arctic Centre.
In a morning showings there will be movies for children, including “Hayflower and Quiltshoe”, a story about children’s rights to spaghetti and childhood. A few of many great movies that will be screened in the afternoons are “Purge”, which is based on the novel of the same name by Sofi Oksanen, and the dramatic plot about “Absolution” for what seems to be unforgivable.
The festival is organized by the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland and Pohjola-Norden Lapin piiri ry.
