Workshop on Food (in)Security in the Arctic

The Nordic Council of Ministers funded project: “The Food (in)Security in the Arctic: Contribution of Traditional and Local Food to promote Food Security with Particular Reference to the European High North” had its first workshop held at the Council for Baltic Sea States (CBSS) on 13 October 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. The project is hosted at the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland. The workshop has brought around 16 internationally renowned scholars from all across Europe and North America, including from Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain and Sweden, to discuss on various aspects of food security in relation to traditional and local food contribution to sustainable supply of food chain as it applies to food security in the Arctic. The whole day workshop attracted sixteen academic presentations, interesting lively discussions, and fruitful interactions amongst the scholars present.
