Workshop on Food (in)Security in the Arctic, 13.10.2017 Stockholm
On 13 October 2017, the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) at the Arctic Center University of Lapland invited its project partners of the Food Security in the Arctic project, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers under its Arctic Cooperation Program for a one-day workshop and meeting in Stockholm, Sweden. The project event took place at the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS). In total, there were twenty participants, including sixteen people who offered their research presentations at the workshop. A closing dinner was offered to the participants at the end of the meeting.
This workshop in Stockholm formally constituted a kickoff meeting for the project. While the workshop served to introduce the project and its objectives, this meeting was mainly aimed at addressing the substance of the project and to discuss the individual academic contributions. It also served as a first meeting for all contributors. In this regard, the participants offered short presentations about their potential contribution for the project. They also agreed to disseminate their work through their participation in future workshops and through the publication of an edited volume.
