Russian EIA Map

The section “Russian EIA map” contains an interactive map of the Barents Euro-Arctic region and more specific information about the EIA process, step-by-step, in each Russian Arctic region.

For collecting information about the EIA process semi-structured interviews were conducted with companies, agencies, organizations during the six fact finding trips. These fact finding trips were made to Arkhangelsk, Moscow, Murmansk, Naryan-Mar, Pterozavodsk, and Syktyvkar.

The main tasks during each of the fact finding trips were to:

  1. Investigate how the EIA process is organized in the Russian Arctic regions.
  2. Identify the main actors involved in the EIA process, along with their contact information.
  3. To collect data for the Information Service about the main legal acts regulating the EIA process in each Russian Arctic region and the list of concrete requirements for each stage of the Russian EIA process and the length of time required for completing each stage in the process.
