Anthropologist, PhD in historical anthropology, specialises in Arctic Anthropology since 1995, particularly the Russian North (North West Russia, West and North East Siberia) and Fennoscandia.
- Research focus
- the assessment of impact of climate change on human activities in the North such as fishery, shipping, oil- and gas extraction, tourism; adaptation and vulnerability of the Northern communities to climatic and societal changes;
- sustainable development, arctic individual and collective identities, (North and spatial identity), interethnic relations, centre-periphery relations in Russia, concept of indigenousness;
- cross-border relations (petty trade). Fieldwork done in Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (1998-2008), Kola Peninsula (Murmansk region) (2005-2007), Kamchatka (2007), Nenets Autonomous District (2008), Norway (Finnmark) (2008).
