Roza Laptander received her PhD from Saint Petersburg Institute of the Northern People, Russian Federation. Spheres of her research interests are based on Nenets language and Nenets speaking society, sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, ethnography and socio-cultural changes. Currently she is a researcher in Orhelia (Oral History of Elders in Arctic) project in the Sustainable Development Research Group, Arctic Centre, Rovaniemi, Finland. She does her work about the Tundra Nenets on the Yamal Peninsula, collecting interviews from Nenets about history, traditional knowledge, and present life in the conditions of intensive industrialization on the tundra.
