Research: The current topic of my research is ’The role of UN Human Rights mechanisms in the Protection of Indigenous Cultural Heritage’. In the study I will concentrate mainly to the content of the article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and to the interpretation of the article provided by the Human Rights Committee under the First Optional Protocol of The Covenant; The outcome of this study will be evaluated in respect to the section 17 of The Constitution of Finland guaranteeing the right for saami to maintain and develop their language and culture.

Tutkimus: Väitöskirjani aiheena on YK:n ihmisoikeusjärjestelyjen rooli alkuperäiskansojen kulttuuriomaisuuden suojelemisessa. Tutkimuksessani keskityn tarkastelemaan pääasiassa kansalaisoikeuksia ja poliittisia oikeuksia koskevan kansainvälisen yleissopimuksen 27 artiklaa sekä YK:n ihmisoikeuskomitean sopimuksen ensimmäisen lisäpöytäkirjan nojalla suorittamaa tulkintaa artiklaa koskien. Tarkastelusta saatuja tuloksia arvioidaan Suomen perusoikeusjärjestelmän valossa kiinnittäen erityshuomio Suomen Perustuslain 17 pykälään, joka takaa saamelaisille oikeuden ylläpitää ja kehittää omaa kieltään ja kulttuuriaan.
